Man arrested after eight hour barricade in Huron-Kinloss

One man was taken into custody Sunday afternoon in Huron-Kinloss after an eight-hour standoff with OPP officers.

Police received a call just after 5:00 a.m. Sunday about a person barricaded in a residence on Bruce Road 1 of Huron-Kinloss.

South Bruce OPP requested the assistance of the West Region Emergency Response Team, the Tactics and Rescue Unit, a Canine Unit, and an OPP Crisis Negotiator.

Early Sunday afternoon, the OPP TRU Team entered the residence and took one man into custody.

The accused was charged with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Utter Threats to Cause Death, and Mischief.

The man is scheduled to appear in Walkerton court Monday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
