Wellington North turned down for grant for Arthur connecting link

Wellington North council does not feel the province realizes how urgently money is needed to help pay for repairs to the connecting link.

Council has learned it was unsuccessful in getting a grant to repair Arthur’s main street, which is the Highway 6 connecting link. The stretch of road has been a mess of potholes for several years.

Councillor Dan Yake urged council to apply some pressure on the province to get them to realize the urgency of this project.

"You take your life in your hands to use that stretch of Queen Street East in Mount Forest," he said.

Mayor Andy Lennox said the connecting link is important to people travelling through Mount Forest as well as for local residents.

Council heard it could be four or five years before any money is coming from the province.
