Building boom continues in North Perth

Strong building activity is continuing this summer in the Municipality of North Perth.

The number of building permits issued and dwelling units created in June was less than that of last year but construction in July rebounded and boomed.

From July 1 to July 31, the North Perth Building Department issued 60 building permits, resulting in the addition of 119 dwelling units. In comparison, in July 2018, 40 building permits were issued and 28 dwelling units were created.

The number of new housing units built in North Perth so far this year has jumped a whopping 94 per cent over the same period in 2018.

So far this year, permits were issued to build 237 new dwellings, which is up from 122 homes created in the first six months of last year.

The 307 building permits handed out so far are worth a total of $64 million in new construction. And the number of permits issued so far this year is up by 16%.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
