Local secondary teachers still waiting for information on contract talks

The president of District 8 of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation is still waiting for more information about how the upcoming teacher negotiations will be structured.

Shane Restall said the federation is waiting to hear from the Ontario Labour Relations Board "about the split between whether items like benefits and salary will be negotiated centrally or locally, the split of all of the issues, so negotiations haven't begun either provincially or locally."

Restall said until they hear how the issues are being split between the province and the local boards, negotiations can't get started.

Restall added their provincial leadership conference is taking place this week, so he's hoping to have more information when that's over.
