Two family travel companies unite as one

A family-owned travel business based in Perth County is merging with another family-owned travel company.

The owners of Blowes Travel and Cruise Centres of Stratford and G. Stewart Travel Services of Peterborough have announced the merger of their businesses, effective September 1.

The new corporation will see eleven retail offices, 34 home offices, a group tour division, conference and events division, and a wholesale division.  There will be over ninety team members under the Carlson Wagonlit Travel brand in Ontario.

Both companies have started a multi-phase integration to form the new Blowes & Stewart Travel Group Ltd.

"You can continue to expect the high standards of customer service, focus, and dedication you have come to expect from us," said Sam Blowes of Blowes Travel and Cruise Centres Inc.

Dana Empey, general manager of G. Stewart Travel Services Ltd. said, "Our travel advisors or ‘dream makers’ are our greatest asset and by combining them, it gives us a strong, efficient team ready for our long term strategy."

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
