Update: Suspect in custody following 'high risk situation' near Sauble Beach

Update as of 8:21 a.m.:

A suspect is now in custody following a more than seven-hour standoff near Sauble Beach.

Grey Bruce OPP said officers were called to a "high-risk situation" involving a weapon just before midnight on Monday on Bruce Road 8 between Sauble Beach and Hepworth.

The area was blocked off while police negotiated with a man inside a residence.

Just before 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, members of the OPP Emergency Response Team took the man into custody. All roads in the area are now open.

The investigation is ongoing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
