Thieves arrested near Brussels after stolen beer truck found

Some alleged thirsty thieves were arrested on Monday after making off with a tractor trailer of beer.

At around 6:30 a.m., officers from the Huron County OPP responded after the tractor trailer was stolen in Oxford County.      The owner of the truck contacted police and notified them that the GPS unit on the truck showed it was in Huron East, just north of Brussels.

OPP members from Perth County, along with officers from the West Region Emergency Response Team, West Region Canine and Aviation Services helicopter section assisted Huron OPP officers and recovered the trailer and contents, which were valued in excess of $100,000.

Two men were arrested.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
