Turtle hatchlings to be released this week at Morrison Dam

The Huron Stewardship Council will be hosting it's fourth annual Turtle Release this Thursday at the Morrison Lake, near Exeter.

Hope Brock from the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority said the turtles have already started hatching and she expects they'll release about 40 hatchlings on Thursday.

The event is an opportunity for people of all ages to see the turtles up close, but it also helps the hatchlings make it safely into the water.

Turtles will be released every half hour from 1:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, rain or shine.

Brock said they had close to 1,000 people out to see the release last year.

More information about the Turtle Release can be found on the ABCA website.
