Deadly drug confirmed in South Bruce

South Bruce OPP is warning residents after drugs seized in South Bruce were tested by Health Canada and confirmed to be Carfentanil.

Police are issuing a public warning associated with the dangers of this deadly opioid after drugs seized in July were confirmed to be Carfentanil.

Carfentanil is 100 times more toxic than fentanyl and 10,000 times more toxic than morphine.

Exposure to a very small amount of this drug, as little as a grain of salt or two milligrams of powder, could be fatal through ingestion, inhalation or absorption through the skin.

Inspector Krista Miller said Carfentanil is being mixed into illicit drugs, and a drug user may not be aware of the contents.    She added you can't see Carfentanil, smell it or taste it.
