Owen Sound prepares for traffic delays during bridge replacement

The City of Owen Sound is reminding residents to be prepared for substantial delays in the downtown as it makes preparations to close the 10th Street Bridge.

The bridge is expected to close on September 25 to commence work that must be completed before the replacement can get underway.

Construction is estimated to take approximately 15 months, with Director of Public Works Dennis Kefalas hoping to have traffic running on the bridge in late December of next year.

Several parking spots downtown will be eliminated while construction takes place to accommodate extra lanes for detours.

The $8 million project must be completed by March of 2021 in order to be eligible for a Connecting Links grant from the Ontario government.
