Police provide update on death of man at Elora Gorge

Police have provided an update into their investigation after a man was pronounced dead at the Elora Gorge in Wellington County on Thursday.

OPP, paramedics and fire rescue were called out to the Irvine River portion of the gorge around 4 p.m. on Thursday, near the David Street Bridge.

The initial report indicated that a man had sustained serious trauma and required medical attention. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The OPP confirmed Friday afternoon that following further investigation, the 40-year-old man, who was from the Elora area, died of blunt force trauma. Police added that they do not consider the death suspicious.

There are no further details at this time.
