Speeding in Perth County an issue

Speeding continues to be an issue in Perth County.

A 19-year old from West Perth was charged with racing near Bornholm on Perth Line 44 on September 2. And a 33-year old Brampton man was charged for speeding on Perth Road 180 near Cromarty on August 29.

Both vehicles were clocked going 50 kilometres per hour over the posted speed limit.

That follows two racing charges August 27 and one on August 23, all in Perth County.

Police said excessive speed is a major contributing factor to fatal crashes.

And officials added, depending on vehicle type and road conditions, it can take 18 metres to come to a full stop at 30 km/h and 76 metres at 80 km/h.
