Theft of gas in Owen Sound leads to arrests

Two Owen Sound men were arrested early this morning after a fuel theft was reported last night.

A police report outlines that a van pulled in to a gas station on 16th Street East in the city just before 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Two men refuel the vehicle as well as a fuel container, and immediately left without paying for the gas. The licence plate that was attached to the vehicle was determined to be stolen.

Around 2 a.m. Wednesday,  an officer spotted the vehicle in a parking lot on the west side of the city. A 25-year-old man was sleeping in the vehicle, and he was arrested without incident.  He's facing charges of theft, possession of drugs, and failing to comply with two probation orders.

Following that arrest, a second man was located at a residence on the west side and taken into custody.

That 22-year-old faces charges for theft charges and possession of stolen property.
