Arrest made in Wingham stabbing

OPP officers were able to quickly arrest a suspect in a stabbing in Wingham Tuesday afternoon.

Police and paramedics responded to a call for medical assistance after a report of a stabbing.

Officers happened to be in the area at the time and saw the altercation. One officer stayed with the victim and provided first aid while two other officers found the suspect on Josephine Street and arrested him.

The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries in hospital and released.

Eric Sabourin, 23, of Wingham is charged with assault with a weapon and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.  He is to appear via video in Goderich court on Thursday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
