Collision in Woolwich claims the life of a young Mitchell man

Waterloo Regional Police are now confirming a collision in Woolwich Township on Thursday morning has claimed the life of an 18-year-old from Mitchell.

Police said a pick-up travelling east on Lobsinger Line around 6 a.m. went out of control and into the ditch on the north side of the road between Durst Road and Martin Creek Road.

The lone occupant was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The man's name has not been released.

The collision also caused a natural gas leak that was repaired by Enbridge. The area was closed for several hours.

The investigation continues and police are asking any witnesses to come forward.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
