Wingham Terry Fox Run recognized by foundation for huge fundraising total

The organizers of the Wingham Terry Fox run have been hosting the cancer fundraiser for over 30 years.

Dale and Linda Edgar started the event 32 years ago after their daughter Allison passed away from cancer.

"Since our first year, we actually got an award from the foundation this year, we raised $524,000," added Dale.

Dale said the support for the community has been amazing.

"From day one, Wingham and area has truly embraced Terry's dream, I guess, and it has been great. Humbled every year by it," he said.

Dale said money raised for cancer research is making a big difference, adding researchers also learned a lot as the treated his daughter.

"She had neuroblastoma, its a childhood cancer, and it's almost curable now. so it's come a long way," he continued.

Registration for the Wingham Terry Fox Run starts at 10 a.m. Sunday morning at the Lions Picnic Shelter, with the run getting underway at 11 a.m.
