Suspicious man approaches two children in Perth County

Perth County OPP officers are investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Line 32 near Fullarton in the Municipality of West Perth.

They responded to a complaint yesterday, about a motorist slowly driving by two children at the end of a rural lane at approximately 8:45 a.m

At some point, the truck made a U-turn and approached the children. The pickup truck came to a stop in front of the children with the window down and the male driver's arm hanging out the window. A parent observed this from her front door and yelled for the children to run to the house.

The vehicle fled the area onto Road 140 from Line 32 at a high rate of speed. The male did not say anything to the children.

The vehicle is described as an older model pickup, burgundy in colour, with extensive rust holes in the rear wheel wells. The licence plate number was not obtained.

The male driver is described as being older and heavy set with a shaved head and a white beard.

Perth County OPP ask the individual involved or any witnesses to give them a call.

Police encourage parents to regularly engage in personal safety conversations with their children. Tips and resources can be found at the Canadian Centre for Child Protection at www.protectchildren.ca. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 1-888-310-1122.
