MPP Pettapiece hosts Library Round Table in St. Marys

The MPP for Perth-Wellington hosted a discussion Tuesday on the future of rural libraries.

Randy Pettapiece welcomed Billy Pang, the parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sport, to the riding.  The two met in St. Marys with representatives from local libraries across the riding.

Topics discussed at the meeting ranged from the Inter-Library Loan Service to the value of the Perth County Information Network, to development charges.

On May 31, the Ontario government made a partial restoration of funding to the Inter-Library Loan Service. The province came to an agreement with the Southern Ontario Library Service where there would be a partial reimbursement of postage costs for libraries to use the Canada Post Library Materials Rate.

"MPP Pang and I will be sharing the feedback from today’s meeting with Minister MacLeod," said Pettapiece. "Since my first election in 2011, I have always strived to represent the concerns of constituents at Queen’s Park. This has not changed since I joined the government in June 2018."
