Several midwestern Ontario communities join the Global Climate Strike

Students at Saugeen District Senior School are a part of a Global Climate Strike.

The students gathering at 2:20 pm at Coulter Parkette in Port Elgin on Thursday.

Organizers said they are striking because science says we have just a few years to transform our energy system, reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, and prevent the worst effects of climate change. They hope their action will force politicians to face the climate crisis and enact change

Goderich is joining the Global Climate Strike Friday.

People can gather at the south plaza of Courthouse Square Friday, with the demonstration and speakers beginning at noon, and running until 1:30 p.m.

A second climate strike will wrap up a week of action in Owen sound, with protesters planning to gather at city hall at 430 p.m. Friday.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
