Wellington County awards scholarships

Ten local students will be receiving educational scholarships and bursaries from the County of Wellington which are based on academic achievement, community involvement, or financial need.

At today’s County Council meeting, Council awarded the following local students with $500 bursaries and scholarships to use toward their post-secondary school expenses:

• Stephen Harris - Guelph/Eramosa • Aylene van den Eijnden - Wellington North • Jade Ritter - Centre Wellington • Michaela McBryde - Puslinch • Joshua Wakeford - Minto • Paxton Klaassen - Mapleton • Meghan Secord - Puslinch • Jensen Pletch - Centre Wellington • Shaelyn Thompson - Minto • Abby Ball - Wellington North

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
