Goderich and Owen Sound part of Climate Strike rallies

One of the organizers of today's climate change rally in Goderich says their goal is to send a message to politicians at all levels that now is the time for action.

Susan Whalen says it's taken a Swedish teenager to mobilize the world. "Greta Thunberg has certainly given a voice to what's happening. It's almost like she's speaking for the planet and she's so dedicated and so passionate about this and she's giving us the walk up call we all need to hear."

Whalen says people are invited to show up at 11:45 if they want to make posters. "The main event starts at twelve o'clock and we should be marching around the Square, probably about 12:35 and then coming back."

The purpose is to create awareness that Huron County and all of Canada are being impacted by changing weather patterns, which are forcing all of us to adapt.

There's also a Climate Strike rally in front of Owen Sound city hall at 4:30 this afternoon.

Thousands of climate strikers are expected to march in Toronto today - as well as dozens of other Canadian cities and towns.
