Charge laid after vehicle blows red light in Owen Sound

An Owen Sound man has been charged after a two-vehicle crash sent one person to hospital.

The Owen Sound Police Service said on Tuesday shortly before 2 p.m, a 2018 Hyundai ran a red light and struck a 2019 Nissan.

The driver of the Nissan, a 24-year-old Owen Sound woman, was hurt in the crash and was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

As a result, a 27-year-old Owen Sound man has been charged with failing to stop for a red light.

"The Owen Sound Police would like to remind the driving public to slow down during inclement weather and give themselves extra time and distance to stop safely," police said in a news release.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
