Electronic search solves Huron County lottery ticket theft

Huron OPP investigators were able to track down a suspect in connection with the theft a bundle of scratch-off lottery tickets.

An employee of a Seaforth gas station reported the theft on October 23.

Investigators launched an electronic search and found that someone attempted to check the lottery tickets at a nearby retailer in Seaforth. Police identified a man in possession of the stolen tickets

A 44-year-old Seaforth man is now charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order.

The accused has a court appearance scheduled for December 9, 2019, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
