Port Elgin Super Spiel attracts top curlers

The 2019 Port Elgin Super Spiel is on this weekend.

This years edition features 20 teams in the open competition and 10 teams in the Senior division (over 50 years old)

The open division features 11 of the top 20 ranked curling teams in Ontario.

This includes last year's champion Cory Heggestad of Stroud, 4th ranked Pat Ferris of Grimsby, 5th ranked John Willsey of Waterloo and former US Champion Todd Birr.

In the Senior's group are local favourites Al Hutchinson of Owen Sound, Joey Rettinger of Tara and some strong teams from across Ontario.

This is one of the top cash spiels in Ontario.

Games will be played all weekend in the Port Elgin and Southampton Curling Clubs and spectators are welcome.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
