OPP offer holiday shopping safety tips

With the holiday shopping season underway, officers with the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police detachment is working to help people prevent theft.

Consumers are asked to ensure their safety and security by taking a few precautions. Police remind residents that theft is a crime of opportunity which can be controlled.

Shoppers should keep wallets and purses safely secured at all times.

Use debit and credit cards rather than cash, but remember to always protect and shield your PIN.

Avoid stand-alone ATM's as many of the stand-alone units are known to be targets of various card skimming devices.

Stash your packages in a trunk or on the floor covered with a blanket. Then lock your car and pocket your keys.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
