Weapons-related charges laid after Owen Sound disturbance

Police in Owen Sound made an arrest early Thursday morning and ended up confiscating several weapons.

Officers responded to a disturbance in the downtown area of 3rd Ave East and 8th Street East just after 1 a.m.

Two men had been fighting, and one man reported to police that the other individual had pointed a gun and a knife at him.

A 26-year-old man was taken into custody and allegedly found to be in possession of a replica pistol and two knives.

He is charged with assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, breach of a weapons prohibition order and failing to comply with bail conditions.  He was held for a bail hearing.

There were no injuries reported during the incident.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
