Six Bruce County families get new homes from Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce hosts a key ceremony on Saturday for new home recipients on the Bruce Peninsula.

Dignitaries will gather in the morning at the Community Centre to celebrate with six families who will move into their brand new homes.

The families will receive the keys to homes constructed by Habitat volunteers at a ceremony that takes place at the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

University of Waterloo students will be on hand to offer tours of their award-winning solar home between 2 a.m. and 4 pm.

Guests include R. Paul Nadjiwan, Elder, Chippewas of Nawash; Chief Gregory Nadjiwon, Chippewas of Nawash; Siva Appiah, Senior Housing Officer, Indigenous Services Canada; Deb Haswell, Chair of the Board, Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce; Shane Shegahno, Housing Manager, Chippewas of Nawash; Mike Rencheck, President and CEO, Bruce Power.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
