New addition being built on local school

A new addition is underway at a local Listowel school.

St. Marys Catholic School is getting a major facelift, and North Perth Clerk Pat Berfelz said the new space will include a lot for students and families.

"What it's going to include is classrooms for the St. Marys school, as well as a new childcare, EarlyON and family grouping room for the community," said Berfelz.

Berfelz said the EarlyON area will be for newborns to kids up to five years old, and the ultimate goal is to have the programs up and running for the next school year in 2020.

"The construction has commenced, and the true goal is to have both the programs, in Monkton with the family grouping and the St. Marys childcare centre up and operational for the beginning of the school year in 2020," said Berfelz.
