Huron County councillors donating gifts to 'Out Of The Cold' program

Huron County councillors have made a slight adjustment to their gift exchange format this year.

In the past, councillors have drawn names and bought a gift that a fellow councillor might have wanted when they were a child.  Those gifts were then donated to a community organization.

CAO Meighan Wark said there has been a lot of discussion around the issue of homelessness recently at county council, and so it was felt that council should really focus on the "Huron Out of the Cold" program this year.

"The gifts that are gathered here will be donated to participants in the Huron Out of the Cold program so that they receive something special on Christmas," she said.

The gift exchange will take place at the county council meeting on December 18.
