Criminal charges laid after July fatal rollover in Southgate Township

The OPP have laid a number of criminal charges against a Huron-Kinloss man following a fatal single-vehicle rollover this past summer in Southgate Township.

The pickup truck crash on July 29 along Southgate Road 26 claimed the life of a 21-year-old South Bruce man.

A second man was removed from the vehicle by the Dundalk fire department and rushed to hospital with serious injuries. A third man was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Following a lengthy investigation, Grey Bruce OPP arrested 26-year-old John Franken of Huron-Kinloss. He's been charged with dangerous operation causing death, dangerous operation causing bodily harm, operation while impaired, operation causing death, operation causing bodily harm, and public mischief.

The accused was released on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on December 19.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
