Eight students injured in school bus crash

One person has been charged after a crash involving a school bus in Owen Sound sent eight students to hospital.

The Owen Sound Police Service said on Tuesday shortly before 9 a.m., the school bus was travelling north along 8th Avenue East when it collided with a westbound pickup truck at 16th Street East.

Of the 15 students on the bus, eight were taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries and later released. No other injuries have been reported.

Damage to the truck was severe enough that it had to be towed from the scene.

As a result of the crash, the bus driver, a 62-year-old Priceville area resident, has been charged with failing to yield to traffic on a through highway.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
