Community mourns death of Sauble Beach Firefighter

The Township of South Bruce Peninsula is expressing heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Firefighter Jamie Hill, who was killed in a collision near Brussels. Hill succumbed to his injuries, and his son, 21-year-old Liam Fletcher from Sauble Beach is fighting for his life in hospital They were involved in a four-vehicle crash at the Jamestown Bridge on Brussels Line Thursday evening. The other involved drivers all sustained minor injuries. Hill devoted eight years of service to South Bruce Peninsula Firefighting team in Sauble Beach. His fellow Firefighters remember him as a quiet, easy-going, hardworking individual.

A release from South Bruce Peninsula says Jamie Hill was a true community ambassador and leader having recently served as President of the Sauble Beach Chamber of Commerce.

He was an entrepreneur who was the owner of the Sauble Dunes Bar & Grill, Hills Fine Homes, Beach Flix Video and Coco Club Property Rentals.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
