Merger of Huron and Perth Health Units on schedule

Huron County Warden Jim Ginn says now that they're getting down to the final details in the merger of the Huron and Perth Health Units, the process is going a little slower.

But Ginn added he's still confident they'll make the January 1 deadline.

"We've appointed new members from the Board of Health and we're in the process of, we're allowed two provincial appointees from Huron County. I'll actually be sitting in on interviews Thursday," he said.

Ginn said working out all the details is time-consuming but he's confident they will meet their January 1, 2020 target.

"We have to satisfy the province as well as negotiations between Huron Health Unit, Perth Health Unit and of course Huron County is involved as well because they're Huron County employees at this point so they need to be what we're calling extracted from Huron County and become employees of the new Huron-Perth Health Unit," he said.
