Special Committee meeting set for Port Elgin Beachfront development

Saugeen Shores Council has scheduled a special Committee of the Whole session focused on the waterfront development proposal.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m., on Monday, December 16 in the Rotary Hall at the Plex in Port Elgin.

CAO David Smith and developer Pier Donnini are scheduled to speak, and there will be three formal delegations, which will allow for some dialogue with the council.

Citizen groups like the Port Elgin Beach Preservers have accused council of not being transparent in relation to the Cedar Crescent Village proposal for the beachfront.

Patricia Corrigan-Frank of the Port Elgin Beach Preservers says they’re frustrated that council seems unwilling to answer their questions.

The proposed multi-million-dollar project would include things such as a full restaurant, an event hall, plus other public and commercial amenities.
