Charges laid in fatal crash near Centralia

A Wheatley resident faces a charge of Careless Driving Cause Death stemming from a fatal rear-end crash that took place near Centralia this past October.

On October 29 police, fire and paramedics were called to the scene on Highway 4 just north of Mount Carmel Drive at around 6:30 a.m.

James McIntyre, 75, from Middlesex Centre Township died as a result of injuries sustained in the rear-end collision.

Huron County OPP officers have now charged Randy Taylor, 61, with careless driving causing death.

He has a court date scheduled for January 21, 2020, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich to answer to the charges.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
