Occupants of new development in Wingham still unknown

There are still a number of unknowns regarding a development between the Wescast Community Complex and Tim Hortons in Wingham, just east of London Road.

North Huron approved an amendment to the original site plan at its meeting Monday to allow for a car wash at the location. The original plan for the site was a gas station, convenience store with a drive-thru restaurant.

County Planner Monica Walker-Bolton said the design has changed substantially from the original plan, noting it will now be a "gas station, take-out restaurant and drive-thru car-wash."

Walker-Bolton said she is still unaware of the gas branding or what restaurant will occupy the location.

North Huron Council approved the site amendment.

But Deputy Mayor Trevor Seip noted council members should be aware of the number of gas station developments in the area, and two gas stations will now be within a very close distance to one another, bringing the total number of gas stations in Wingham to at least five.
