Collision near Meaford claims the life of a pedestrian

Provincial police are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian and a transport truck near Meaford.

Police said the pedestrian was hit on Highway 26 east of the Third Line around 1:13 p.m. on Monday. The pedestrian was rushed to hospital but despite the efforts of hospital staff, the person succumbed to their injuries.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld until family can be notified.

The collision remains under investigation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
