Man arrested following attempted car wash theft in Owen Sound

A 30-year-old man is facing a list of criminal charges after an attempted car wash theft.

Owen Sound police received a report of a man allegedly attempting to break into the change compartment of a coin-operated vacuum at the Buffy's Car Wash on 1820 20th Street East.

An officer arrived at the car wash just before 8 a.m. 

The suspect was also allegedly in possession of a Ford F250 pick up truck that had been stolen from the Municipality of Meaford the day prior.

Police say a brief struggle ensued as an officer arrested the man and the suspect then ran into a wooded area northeast of the car wash. An OPP Canine found the suspect who was then taken into police custody around 9:20 a.m.

A 30-year-old is now facing a list of criminal charges.  He has been held in custody and will be presented before WASH (Weekend And Statutory Holiday) Court Sunday morning. 

Neither the officer nor the suspect was injured during the altercation.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
