Grey Bruce Health Services (GBHS) has made a submission to the Ministry of Health which, according to a release, is the second-last approval step prior to starting construction of the new hospital in Markdale.

The requests include architectural drawings, building material and signage requests.

GBHS said it expects to hear back from the ministry by the end of this spring.

Once approved, the project will move into the tender and award stage, at which time general contractors will be invited to submit bids.

The build is expected to cost $65 million.
