Remains found in Grey Highlands home destroyed by fire

Provincial police say they have found remains in a burned-out home in Grey Highlands.

The fire broke out Thursday morning and first responders arrived to find the home on Artemesia-Euphrasia Townline fully engulfed. At the time, Grey Bruce OPP officers were able to account for two of the three occupants living in the home.

One of the two occupants who made it out of the home was seriously hurt and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

On Friday, OPP, the OPP Forensic Identification Services, Grey Highlands Fire Department and the Ontario Fire Marshal returned to the scene to continue their investigation and found the remains.

Grey Bruce OPP are not providing any information on the deceased until a post mortem is completed.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
