EFTO labour dispute means no report cards

The Avon Maitland District School Board has issued a notice that students will not receive Term One report cards.

As part of its work-to-rule job sanctions, the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) has directed teachers not to create comments for report cards and not to enter grades electronically.

Teachers’ electronic submission and verification of grades and comments are required to complete the report card process.

Teachers will be submitting marks to school administrators. If a parent/guardian has a question or concern about their child’s progress they may call the school office during regular school hours beginning February 20.

While report cards are not being distributed, teachers’ assessment and evaluation of student progress will continue throughout the year.
