Large plumbs of black smoke could be seen above Goderich earlier Thursday afternoon between Oxford Street and Walnut Street.
A portion of Cambridge Street was barricaded while fire trucks were at the scene.
Fire officials said the fire originated in a garage.
The hydro was also out at some intersections but was expected to be restored within short order.
