Standoff in Bluevale ends peacefully

A Bluevale resident has been arrested following a standoff with police that lasted over four hours.

The Ontario Provincial Police said on Tuesday at around 12:35 p.m., officers responded to a home on Orange Street in Bluevale to check on the well-being of a male resident. However, police were concerned that there could be firearms inside of the home, the West Region Emergency Response Team, the Canine Unit and Crisis Negotiation Team also attended to assist.

Just after 5 p.m., the resident was taken into custody without incident.

Police have not stated if any firearms were recovered inside the home.

No further information has been released, including whether or not charges will be laid in connection with the incident.

The OPP Crime Unit is continuing to investigate, police said.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
