South Bruce Peninsula report on poverty

South Bruce Peninsula Councillor Terry Bell has tabled a report regarding financial supports for South Bruce Peninsula School Students.

Councillor Bell told council he met with the principal regarding issues of student poverty.

A local breakfast program and an OPP program may be used to ensure students are fed.

Bell said transportation to sporting events is another urgent need at the school.

Discussions included a working group that would help the schools, including all of the schools in the area.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
