Perth County food literacy information easy to find

A new inventory of all of the food literacy and food service programs in Perth County will help people feel more confident in making healthy food decisions.

The new list for 2020 will help people find information on Food and nutrition education, food access, community gardens, dietitian services, commodity groups and information phone lines.

The Perth County Food Literacy Group releases the list annually to ensure residents have food skills such as choosing, preparing and eating healthier options.

Public Health Nutritionist Shannon Edmonstone said it also promotes understanding of how food choices are impacted by the food system, the food environment, living situation, culture and beliefs.

The inventory is available to view and download on Huron Perth Public Health’s page on the Southwest HealthLine: https://www.southwesthealthline.ca/displayService.aspx?id=16160.
