County housing issue brought up at local council meeting

Huron County's Homelessness Programs Supervisor says they're getting ready to move forward on their Long Term and Affordable Housing and Homelessness Plan.

Erin Schooley says they have set several goals under the plan and the county has received funding under the Ontario Housing Priority Initiative Program.

“The county received, under the Ontario Housing Priority Initiative Program, funding that we have earmarked for 2021 to collaborate with a developer on a development, so the RFP for that will come out in the spring of 2020.”

The county's Housing and Property's Services, Economic Development Department and Planning Department presented some of the things they're working on to address the critical shortage of housing in the county at this week's Goderich council meeting.
