Wiarton Willie has made his annual call on whether or not spring will come early this year.

Wiarton's Groundhog Day celebration began at 7 a.m. with a fireworks display at Bluewater Park, followed by morning festivities and breakfast.

Willie made his official prediction at 8:07 a.m., and according to the weather prognosticating groundhog, we will see an early spring this year!

In Nova Scotia earlier today Schubenacadie Sam predicted 6 more weeks of winter, Quebec's Fred La Marmotte says longer winter as well, but in the US Punxsutawney Phil agrees with Willie and says it will be an early spring.
