Rotating strikes affect public elementary schools this week, province wide on Thursday

Elementary schools in the Bluewater District School Board are closed to students Monday as part of the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario's rotating strike action.

Bluewater is one of seven boards affected by the full withdrawal of services on Monday. In a news release, the Bluewater board said third-party child care centres will remain open, and community education evening programs will continue to run.

Two more days of rotating strikes are scheduled to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, with a province-wide strike of all 83,000 members planned for this Thursday.

Tuesday's job action will affect the Avon-Maitland District School Board and Upper Grand District School Board.

And the Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association, or OECTA, will hold job action on Tuesday across the province affecting all public Catholic elementary and secondary schools.
