Rotating strikes by ETFO members to affect local schools next week

Rotating teacher strikes will affect schools in the region once again next week.

Avon Maitland District School board said in a release this morning that rotating strikes by the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario will affect schools in the board on Monday, February 10 as part of a rotating strike, and on Tuesday, February 11 as part of a province-wide strike. As a result, schools will be closed for kindergarten to Grade 8 students on those days.

Bluewater District School Board will be affected by a rotating strike on Thursday, February 13, and by the province-wide strike on February 11. In a release, Bluewater District School Board said schools will be closed to elementary students only on those days, and that third party child care centres will remain open on these dates, and Community Education evening programs will continue to run.

These rotating strikes are in addition to tomorrow's province-wide strike by the 83,000 ETFO members, which will close all elementary schools in the province.
