Local fire chief announces retirement

Kincardine Fire Chief, Kent Padfield, has announced his retirement.

In a press release, CAO Sharon Chambers said the municipality thanks Padfield for his contribution and service.

He joined the fire department as a volunteer in 2004, and was appointed Chief in 2013.

Padfield took administrative leave in December, following an independent workplace health and safety investigation in regards to an incident with a fire truck in October.

Deputy Fire Chief, Ron Simmons, has assumed the role of acting Fire Chief.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
